it’s another excellent day here in lovely historic downtown Pittsboro. it’s actually pretty good here in the kitchen too ! Today we have Xenia, Josie and John cooking up all kinds of fun stuff for everyone to enjoy. Let’s start with my favorite part on friday mornings, the Pittsboro Farmer’s Market gossip ….. since our county fair started yesterday the farmer’s market was moved to the Chatham Mill, just in front of Chatham Marketplace. I liked having the market there, you could visit with all the awesome farmers and then pop on into the coop .. my kinda “big box shopping” !! i actually do have fun gossip … however we’re getting calls asking what the specials are. soooo … just come on by and shoot the breeze today and i’ll share the fun stuff : )
Green Chile Beef Stew - John’s Chile Shack presents an excellent batch of Piedmont Biofarm’s green chile with Smith Angus Farm’s stew meat. lots of local veggies and a beautiful beef broth made with beef bones from Cindy at Smith Angus farm. ($4)
Greek Chicken Soup – our homemade chicken broth and orzo soup finished with local eggs and fresh lemon juice. ($3)
Alan’s Veggie Soup – a tasty soup with a tomato base and lots of different local veggies including okra from the lovely Esta Cohen, peppers from Alan’s garden, organic carrots, and whatever else Alan found in the fridge : ) Enjoy with a chunk of rusk ($3)

This batch even has some of Celebrity Dairy’s unbeatable chevre. ($5)
