My favorite month is racing by ,.,, of course, October isn’t too shabby either! cooler weather, peppers galore … fall CSAs. Everyone please make an effort to support our local farmers and consider joining any one of the wonderful CSAs out there. I happen to know that Piedmont Biofarm has an excellent fall CSA and I will find out which of our other farmers is CSAing this fall.
For today we are cooking up some fun things, with great stuff planned through the week !
French Lentil Soup – lovely french lentil soup with a vegan veggie broth, garlic, bay leaf, organic carrots and tomatoes. ($3)
Josie’s Green Chile Chicken Enchiladas – Josie’s special green chile Monterrey Jack enchilada sauce with Piedmont Biofarm’s excellent 2009 green chiles and organic chicken. ($7.50)
Braised Leeks – Bill Dow’s end of season leeks braised with organic carrots and local tomatoes. ($5)
Gluten Free Green Chile Meatloaf - Smith Angus ground beef mixed with Piedmont Biofarm green chiles and blue corn meal and local eggs. Shaped into muffins !! ($2 ea – platter special 2 muffin loaves with veggies, soup or a side salad for $6.75)
Roasted Organic Chicken – local organic chicken doused in lemon juice and greek spices and baked till golden (see menu)
things to look forward to ….. Papoutsakia (little shoes – stuffed eggplant) …Touroulou (yes, its a turkish name … but if you ask me it’s totally a greek dish – baked seasonal veggies like sweet potatoes and eggplant)… greek chicken soup : )
