Hello friends in internet land – the kitchen is up and running and I dare say we’ve started the week with a bang! Yesterday started with a call from Greg Cox, the food critic for the News and Observer. This was followed by a visit from Roy Underhill, the master behind the Woodwright School in Pittsboro and the popular public TV show. He brought with him two handsome Danes representing Danish public TV. Pretty lucky we were open yesterday (a Monday) due to a mistake I made on an ad on the chatlist : ) The universe continues to guide our place with no complaints from me.
On the veggie front, hurry in and enjoy the season’s end of local carrots. A staple in our cooking, we have been so lucky to have wonderful carrots pouring in from Rocky River Farm and few to come from Edible Earthscapes, but this is the end of the local season – so enjoy them while they last. As we say goodbye to the carrots we say hello to the tomatoes!! Thanks to Dave of Sunny Slope Greenhouse this week we can welcome our good old friends back. Pretty soon we’ll be swimming in chard and other field greens and I for one will be thrilled !
And one last note – Judy has baked up a storm, and based on last weeks sales, if you need some homemade ginger or apple or pumpkin cake you need to get your tushes in here early in the week : )
