woowhooo – finally a little chilly weather.  If you need to warm up just hop on into our kitchen … it’s a balmy 78 and plenty of chopping and cleaning if you’re bored : )    We have a special special today!  Lori and Kathy (two part time farmers and full time awesome people) grew way more eggplant than they ate last season … and as they were cruising through their freezer they came upon several bags of eggplant.  When I heard of this I did my best puppy dog face and was offered several bags to use here in the shop (woowhoo)  so today – out of season – we’re gonna enjoy some moussaka!  Any of you folks finding cool locally grown tidbits in your freezers call us before you think of composting such treasures.

Moussaka – Local eggplant, Cohen Farm ground beef and a decadent bechamel made with Homeland Creaery milk and butter and Lindley Mills Flour– what’s not to love about this uber local dish!  $8 add a side salad $3

Roasted Lamb Pita Sandwich – Best local lamb in the county comes from Lisa Duff.  Cooked with local mint and Screech’s cooking tomatoes! Today we have roasted leg of lamb sliced and served on a grilled pita with your choice of three toppings.  no processed meat here! $8

Slow Roasted Beef Shoulder Pita Sandwich– just delivered from Chaudry Halal Butcher, Smith Angus Farm beef shoulder roasted with John’s secret spice blend and Screech Owl tomatoes and chiles.  Served on a grilled pita bread with your choice of three toppings $8

RICE BOWL – our brown rice topped with your choice or any or all of the following: ($6.75 veg only $8 with meat)  all our rice toppings are gluten free

  • Green Chile Beef Stew – Smith Angus Farm stew beef, Screech Owl hot green chiles, homemade beef broth, lots of veggies.
  • Lentils – Lentils, turmeric, carrots and a good dose of garlic.  Add to any dish!
  • Greens Bake – you can never get enough greens and this dish packs them in! Swiss chard, arugula and mizuna from Edible Earthscapes, plenty of parsley from Screech, a little local egg, feta and ricotta and viola!  best way to get all those greens into your daily diet
  • Roasted Lamb – mmmm, Thank you Lisa Duff!
  • Slow Roasted Beef Shoulder – melt on your mouth Smith Angus Farm beef shoulder

Lentil Soup – A soup full of carrots, garlic and turmeric $3.25

Green Chile Beef Stew – our green chile stew made using homemade beef broth, Screech Owl green chiles, Smith Angus stew beef and lots of veggies ($4.75)

Greek Chicken Soup – a fresh batch of our homemade chicken broth and orzo soup finished with fresh lemon juice and local eggs ($3.75)

Amazing Apple Cake – Judy Hogan’s recipe, Okfuskee Farm grown and milled rye flour!, Judy Hogan’s eggs, homeland creamery butter and a good dose of walnuts, currants, raisins and golden raisins – this is one of the healthiest delicious cakes around and chock full of Chatham County goodness!  $2.50 slice  $12 cake

Olive Oil Brownies! – dark chocolate, milk chocolate and olive oil – what’s not to luv? ($1.50)
