Xristos Anesti!  Greeks around the world celebrated Easter yesterday – and with this holiday comes a slew of traditional greek dishes.  My childhood memories of easter are a mix of serious church time and food food food.  During lent we ate specific lenten foods – no meat for the whole lent – no dairy for part of lent and during holy week we even cut out oils.  If you think about this, spring time is a great time to clean out your body and give your digestive track a break.  So even for the not so religious the lenten fast is a good thing.  And the best part of the fast?  Saturday night after midnight liturgy breaking the fast : )  It is traditional to eat a greek easter soup called magiritsa after saturday night church and then on sunday to roast a whole lamb and enjoy the greeks answer to a southern whole pig roast. (but less bbq sauce and more lemon lemon lemon)  I wanted to share this event with our community so today we are offering traditional Greek Easter Soup for our global eaters.
